For alternate versions of this enemy in other XCOM games, see Sectoid.

A Sectoid is an enemy in The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. Sectoids are the first aliens encountered in the game.

Description[]

They appear to be the same Sectoids from XCOM: Enemy Unknown but wear some collar-like equipment which indicates they have been enslaved by the Zudjari. They also are grey in color.

Abilities[]

The Sectoid exhibits no special powers or abilities.

Tactics[]

Sectoids appear to form the lowest ranks of the Outsider invasion. As such, they can usually be seen in groups, led by their Outsider superiors. As in other XCOM titles, Sectoids appear to be used as "cannon fodder" against the player, utilizing their numerical advantage to make up for their lack in durability. That is not to say Sectoids should be underestimated. Not only do they have a tendency to appear in groups, but they are reasonably accurate with their Laser Pistols. Each individual Sectoid is also capable of grasping the concept of flanking, covering each others' movements, and other strategies that can spell a squads doom on harder difficulties.

Aside from their numbers and coordination however, there are few other qualities that make them difficult. They do not have any form of armor or shielding (Unless given such by other forces), and their Laser Pistols do not inflict much damage. Sectoids are not exceptionally fast, and their large heads make them easy prey for hawk eyed Agents. Finally, their shorter stature proves to be their biggest weakness. In order to fire over light cover, they often must lean forward over the top of it to fire, which exposes most of their upper body and especially their heads. This makes them very easy to eliminate, even if they are behind cover.

Sectoids use no special abilities such as grenades, and are armed with only Laser Pistols. Once the aliens begin to upgrade their arsenal to plasma weaponry the Sectoids will carry Heavy Plasma Pistols which they will also drop once you recover your first pistol from the campaign.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike in XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the Sectoids encountered in XCOM Declassified apparently retains a reasonable degree of free will, as one can be seen attempting to kill its Zudjari abusers before being forced to commit suicide. They also do not serve the Ethereals like in Enemy Unknown.
    • It is also through the aforementioned encounter that one also discovers that the Zudjari torments enslaved Sectoids for personal amusement.
