The Flashbang Grenade is a utility item in XCOM 2.

In-Game Description[]

The Flashbang Grenade disrupts and disorients enemies in a very large radius, inflicting significant offensive penalties.

Tactical Info[]

  • Flashbang grenades don't do damage, but disorient and disrupt enemies in a large radius.
  • Friendly squad members will not be affected.

Notes[]

  • Effects: (negatively affects only enemies caught in the blast radius)
    • Inflicts Disoriented status effect.
    • Removes Overwatch.
    • Kills Psi-reanimated corpses when used on the caster.
    • Releases friendly units from mind control if used on the caster.
    • Cancels Viper's bind.
  • Disoriented status effect prevents use of most special abilities:
    • Stun Lancers will not use their blades, Officers will not use grenades, Mutons will not counter-attack in melee, etc. [explanation needed]
    • Psionic aliens cannot use any Psi abilities, resorting to using their primary weapon for the duration.
      • Codex cannot Teleport or Clone. [explanation needed]
  • Grenadier's Volatile Mix ability adds 2 damage to the grenade.
  • Limitations:
    • No effect against robotic enemies.
    • No effect against Chosen (WotC).
    • Andromedon can still use Acid Bomb.
    • ADVENT Officers can still use Mark Target.
    • ADVENT Shieldbearers can still use Energy Shield.
    • Berserkers and Faceless can still use melee attacks.
    • An already disoriented unit that enters Overwatch will not have that Overwatch removed by another Flashbang.
